You Are the Main Character of Your Life
After graduating high school, I experienced a severe inferiority complex. As many of my friends got admitted to prestigious universities and my cousins were doing jobs in various high positions, things became even worse. That was the period when I read a lot of self-help books and light novels. Well, those self-help books did nothing to help me out. But while reading a light novel on a certain day I thought about the MCs of the novel. That day I thought, yes, I am the MC of my life.
This way of thinking really changed my life. After several years, I’m finally sharing this with you. I hope that helps you.
1. You have agency and control: You are the one who makes the choices that shape your life, not external forces or fate. You have the power to decide your path, goals, and actions. My cousins had hard days I saw them with my own eyes. My friends worked harder than me. Even if I am working hard and not getting good results, that means I am doing something wrong.
2. Your experiences are unique and personal: No one else has the same story or perspective as you do. Your life is uniquely yours, with its own joys, struggles, and lessons. It is your life. It is something to live, enjoy, and experience.
3. You are responsible for your happiness and well-being: Ultimately, it’s up to you to create a fulfilling life. This includes taking care of your physical and mental health, pursuing your passions, and building meaningful relationships.
4. You have the opportunity for growth and change: As the main character, you have the power to learn from your experiences, overcome challenges, and become the best version of yourself. The main character is always not the best. You are not a divine being. You are a human, it is your struggles and challenges that make you unique.
5. You are the author of your narrative: You can choose how you tell your story, what perspective you take, and what lessons you draw from your experiences.
It’s important to note that being the main character of your life doesn’t mean you have to do everything alone. You can surround yourself with supportive people, seek help when needed, and learn from others’ experiences. Ultimately, the statement is an encouragement to take ownership of your life, actively pursue your goals, and live authentically according to your values.
Also, Be sure that you do these:-
- Reflect on your life so far. What choices have you made? What are your goals?
- Consider what it means to you to be “the main character.” What responsibilities does it come with?
- Think about how you can take more ownership of your life and start living it on your own terms.
- Talk to friends, family, or therapists about your thoughts and feelings. Do not bottle up everything
Remember, you are the author of your story. What chapters will you write next?
