First of all, the greatest writing supplements are those that work well for you. Here I mentioned supplements that have shown to be effective to me or that I have heard are useful from credible sources.

Outlining and mind mapping tools:

  • Google Docs Outline: A built-in feature in Google Docs that helps you organize your thoughts and structure your writing.
  • MindMeister: An online mind-mapping tool that helps you visually organize your thoughts and ideas.
  • Coggle: Another popular online mind-mapping tool with a simple and user-friendly interface.

Thesauruses and synonyms dictionaries:

  • Quillbot: Another popular paraphrase tool with a more organized and categorized approach. Well, to me paraphrase and thesauruses are alike. And paraphrasing tools are better.
  • WordHippo: An online thesaurus with a variety of features, including synonyms, antonyms, related words, and example sentences.
  • Merriam-Webster Thesaurus: Helps you find alternative words and phrases to avoid repetition and improve your vocabulary.

Grammar and style guides:

  • Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS): The go-to guide for academic and professional writing in the United States. Covers grammar, punctuation, style, and formatting.
  • AP Stylebook: The standard for journalism and news writing. Provides guidance on grammar, punctuation, style, and usage.
  • Merriam-Webster Dictionary: A trusted resource for definitions, spellings, and pronunciations.
  • Grammarly: An online grammar checker that can help you identify and correct errors in grammar, punctuation, and style.

Research and citation tools:

  • Google Scholar: A search engine specifically designed for academic research.
  • JSTOR: A digital library of academic journals, books, and other scholarly materials.
